Health Care Reform Commercial

I just saw a commercial from Patients United Now in which a woman says that she had brain cancer, and her Canadian health care wouldn't treat her for 6 months. Supposedly, the only reason she is alive now is because she sought care in America. Here is the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWxcv0Dummk

1) The writers of the health care bill have been more than clear that the new bill will not reflect the Canadian health care system.
"We are not Europe. We are not Canada... We need a uniquely American solution. It
has to be a partnership of public and private players." -Sen. Max Baucus

2) Shona Holmes explains to have a 'brain tumor' and if she had waited for 6 months to get treatment in Canada she would be dead. So what she is saying is that she has a malignant brain tumor that is going to kill her within 6 months? False. Shona Holmes was diagnosed with a Rathke's cleft cyst. Although the Cyst is rare, and can cause headaches and vision problems, IT IS NOT DEADLY. Seriously, don't believe me? Read the case study for yourself: http://www.mayoclinic.org/patientstories/story-339.html

Why are organizations like Patients United Now so afraid of health care reform that they feel it necessary to misconstrue information to the American public? Maybe because Patients United Now is supported by companies such as Blue Cross, Pfizer, Kotch Industries, CIGNA, and Altria (formerly Phillip Morris).
So, you can either actually sit down and read the actual health care bill and form an opinion that way. OR, you can let corporate America tell you what is best for you.

Ps: In case you don't know, Altria (Phillip Morris) is the biggest tobacco company in America. Seriously, a tobacco company dares to tell people about what is best for their health? Seriously?
